Is hunting moral?
There are lots of people that are against sports hunting and say that the hunting is immoral. Of course these people don’t know much about natures balance, animal populations,…they only know that there was a animal kill. We have collect some answers to the question “Is hunting moral?”
Here are the answers from our readers and answers from other hunters:

“Not hunting would be immoral (read the following explanation). Also, hunters need a license to hunt. There are bag limits and limits on when and where you can hunt too.
If there is one thing that we can learn from PETA it would be the story of the honeybee. We’ve all heard about the huge impact that an increasingly dwindling number of honeybees could have on the environment (lack of pollination so the plants die, a big hole in the food chain that causes everything else to cave in, etc). Humans are just as much a part of the food chain as any other animal. As we can see form the honeybee example, taking a big part of the food chain out is a bad idea and can cause terrible effects.
Also, I think hunting is way more ethical than raising an animal for slaughter. The animal lives in its natural environment and lives a free life with no fences or human abuses. The same can not be said for getting a hamburger from a fast food chain. There is no fuel wasted in processing the meat and shipping it across the country. The death is quick also. I think I also appreciate the meat more when I hunt it myself, field dress it, and butcher it. I realize everything that went into making that steak for dinner. It’s not just going to the grocery store to buy individually cut steaks in little styrofoam containers.
Hunters also help control the population of animals. Without hunters the ratio of animals: available space: available food would be thrown way off. This would cause animals to slowly starve to death over the winter due to overcrowding. Do you not have any sympathy for an animal who slowly and painfully starves because there was too large of a population. I think a quick death by gunshot sure beats slowly starving.
Also, the money that I pay for guns, ammo, hunting licenses, etc goes to fund conservation. Hunters are one of, if not the largest, supporters of conservation.”

“I think it is moral becouse this is human right to control the populations of animals. The 90% of hunters are responsible and do not kill animals that it shouldn’t be killed. Of course there are the 10% wannabe hunters that are not good for Sports hunting becouse they don’t respect the nature.
The next thing is that the real hunters do not kill the animals just like that. They know which animal should and can be killed.
And yes they need license.”

“Most hunters eat what the kill, the exception is pest. Those are just for fun. Morality is irrelevant. Most states require hunting license and a hunters education course.”
Humans have a right and responsibility to controlĀ animals populations becouse that is in their own good. The animals that are killed for sport are later eaten too-that means that they are also a food. We are a part of nature and on the top of food chain-so killing the animals for food is our right and need. If someone asks if the sports hunting is moral the best answer would be “Is it moral that fox killed the rabbit?” That means that the fox has a right and a need to kill the rabbit becouse she is the part of nature and a food chain.
